What is it?
Community performances are casual recitals held in public venues (like assisted living homes, museums, art galleries) with the triple goal of being fun for the audience, encouraging for the students, AND giving me the opportunity to teach students the special skills and mindset needed to perform in public venues. Students may dress casually and are able to use music to share a piece or two; music should be well-played but does not need to be memorized.
Can’t stay long?
That’s perfectly fine! We’ve asked our students to come for a short block of time. So you can come enjoy the moment and get back to your day. Of course, if you have the time, you’re welcome stay and enjoy the performance.
What should the student bring or wear?
Most of our Community Performances are casual events where performers may can come straight from work/school and should be prepared to share a piece or two. However, some events require students to be well-dressed. If you’re unsure, please ask your teacher. Music should be well-played but does NOT need to be memorized.
